Birmingham's 22nd Commonwealth Games begins on Thursday.  More than 5 thousand players from 72 countries are participating in it, in which there will be 280 events in 20 sports.

  India's 215-member squad will take part, consisting of 111 men and 104 women players.  Through these games, Indian players will start preparing for the Paris Olympics to be held in 2024.  Performance in these games will determine which players can qualify for Paris.  Know about those players, from whom there will be expectations ...

1.  Nikhat Zareen (Boxing), age - 20 years..

....In May became the world champion in the flyweight category.  Won Gold in World Youth - Junior.  She has defeated Olympic and World Medalist many times.  The 6-time world champion enters the weight category of Mary Kom.  Mary Kom is 39 years old and her career is nearing its end.  Nikhat can get the country another medal in the Olympics in that category.

2.  lakshya Sen (badminton), age - 20 years..

.....This is the first senior multi sporting event of a young shuttler participating in the Games for the first time.  Lakshya, a world junior number one, has won bronze at the World Championships and silver at the All England.  He was a member of the Indian team that became the Thomas Cup champions, Lakshya, who started his career in 2016, has defeated players ranked higher than him.

3.    Rohit Yadav (Javelin throw) age - 21 years...

....Rohit is considered to be the country's most consistent javelin thrower after Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra.  He made his best performance in the World Championship and made it to the final, however, he missed out on the medal.  He has finished the podium four times this season.  He has consistently thrown more than 80 meters in the last three months.

4.   jeremy lalrinnunga (Weight Lifting) age - 19 years...

.....Won the Commonwealth Championship in 67 weight category while Youth Olympic champion in 62 weight category, he has three national records to his name.  He has made national records for snatch, clean and jerk and total in his category.  His eyes will once again be on breaking his own record in the Games, he has been training in Birmingham for a month.
5.  Ansu Malik (wrestling) age - 20 years

....Last year she became the first Indian female wrestler to win a silver at the World Wrestling Championships.  She has won gold in the Asian Wrestling Championship in the 57kg category, she lands in the category of Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik.  He qualified in the same category at the Tokyo Olympics.  She has also won silver in the Wrestling World Cup.
